There will be a Fall Meet in Brentwood on September 17,18,19. The featured demonstrator will be Zeevik Gottlieb from Israel. Zeevik is an accomplished artist blacksmith with numerous international accolades. He apprenticed with Uri Hoffi and has double team demonstrated with him at a number of different venues. He is a very engaging presenter and we are lucky to include him here in New England.

After two years of no events we are all looking forward to getting together again. Everyone should expect a larger than typical tailgate area. There are already some sizable Iron in the Hat donations including a full forge set up. Forge, anvil, tongs in one lot. Plus there will be books, tools, stock, and on and on.

Zeevik will be teaching a 3 day class at the Ball & Chain Forge in Portland Tuesday thru Thursday before the Meet. It is limited to six students and the tuition will be $400. This will be a unique opportunity to learn from a master. Though not a beginner class as we’ll be swimming in the deep end of the pool, it will be a rich challenge for intermediate and advanced smiths alike. 1. I’d love to come and learn from Zeevik, but nowhere in this event announcement is there any mention of any sort of covid precautions. I have four youngsters in my bubble who cannot be vaccinated yet, and I need to protect them.

    With luck, next time.

Maybe see you at the Forge-In. That’s entirely outdoors. My bubble can cope with that.

    1. Carl, The Board now has the following statement on the website, the NEB mailing list, and may have a sign up at registration:

“The Board of Directors, after hearing concerns from members with small children, would like to clarify our position on mask wearing at the Fall Meet. While New Hampshire and the town of Brentwood do not have any mask mandates, we would strongly encourage all members to take care of one another by wearing a mask, especially when inside and when social distancing is not possible. We will be placing some tables and chairs outside for maskless meal times, and ask that folks spread out more than normal.

On a related safety equipment note, don’t forget your safety glasses for the demo, green coal, and forging competition.”

Thank you, the New England Blacksmiths’ BOD

  2. I just paid for Saturday passes for myself and son. Do you still need the registration form? If so, can I email it to you?

  3. Can I please get a copy of the registration form emailed? Also the website has issues, have to scroll thru a lot of error messages.

    1. Our hosting service upgraded some software yesterday that broke things. I think I have cleaned up most of the issues. Dominic Spano is handling registrations. I will send you his email if you want something mailed.

  4. I have the packet – Please let me know if you need it pdf’d and emailed to you.
