New England Blacksmiths Workshop Schedule

Brentwood Teaching Center (directions below)
Brentwood North, Portland
The Brentwood North program will be held on Feb. 27,
2010 at the Ball & Chain Forge in Portland Maine.
From Bob Menard: I am pleased to announce the
instructor line up for this year. Carl Close is going to be teaching
some reposse techniques including the use of pitch. Russell Pope will be
showing techniques of forging cusps and their uses in leaf development
and other home products. Richard Spreda is doing a fire place poker and
incorporating some forge welding, upsetting, tapering, overall design.
John Hodgdon makes another appearance working on simple wall and S hooks
with less then simple twisting designs. This is a great group of
talented blacksmiths.
The program will run from 9A to 4P. Coffee, breakfast
goodies, and lunch will be provided.
For those who have not experienced this program it is
four 90 minute stations thru the day. Students complete a project at
each station that they can take home. Every 90 minutes the entire group
rotates clock wise to a new station and a new project.
The cost of the day is $70.00 with all funds
supporting the Brentwood Teaching Facility. Sign up early as there are
only 8 spots on a first come first served basis. This 2 to 1 ratio gives
the best learning environment.
Payment up front guarantees your spot.

can show up with a project in mind or some ideas can be suggested by the
instructor.
This is a perfect opportunity to do that project you
always wanted to tackle but didn't for lack of tooling, space, extra set
of knowledgeable hands.
The cost will be $10.00 for the day. If one's project
includes using substantial resource, IE. considerable steel or expensive
fuel gases, an additional lab fee may be assessed.
