Spring & Fall Meets

for New England Blacksmiths Spring 2008 event:

Spring Time in New Hampshire....

Brentwood Teaching Center at the Brentwood Recreational Facility will be the site of the
New England Blacksmiths Spring Meeting on May 30, 31 and June 1st, 2008

A hands-on, get up off your behind and learn by doing experience of great value to all who choose to participate. (you can sit and take notes but you will miss a lot of fun!!!)

The design, forging and assembly of projects requested by the facility to enhance the completely renovated meeting hall, nature trail and athletic fields will be our theme and goal. We will have multiple forging stations in addition to those at our Teaching Center.

Once again Dave Bishop will be producing the victuals to keep us going for what promises to be a grand celebration of our 30th year in the "business" of supporting and proliferating the fine art/craft of blacksmithing.

The April Newsletter will have complete information or check back to this web site page for planning progress, events, etc. as they become available.

Later in the year...

New England Blacksmiths Fall meet 2008:

        "Atlantic Coast Blacksmiths Conference"

**The Fall NEB meet will be a combined effort with five other blacksmithing groups for the FIRST EVER Northeast Regional & upper Atlantic Coast Conference

This event will be held September 4-7th, 2008 at the Ashokan NY field campus. Mark your calander!

The Ashokan Field Campus is a secluded mountain location in the heart of a huge reservoir area - the grounds, buildings, and facility fit the surroundings and are extremely fitting for our event.

Here are some pictures of the site:

Dinning hall at the Ashokan Field campus - the food is great!

                                       Pavilion - demonstrators site

Right of the pavilion will be vendors and tent for other demonstrators to present

Member's work will be presented in the old Pewter shop as our "Gallery"

Plenty of room for camping in this field and woods roads adjoining

Bunk house lodging also available - register early - space is limited

Demos to the public will be presented in the upper "Blacksmith Shop"

Besides a beautiful setting for camping, three great demonstrators, and a nice gallery to present your work,  there will be tailgating, vendors, and impromptu demos for your enjoyment as part of the scheduled events. Slide shows and lectures are also planned for evening events after dinner.

Stay tuned as more plans develop for this upcoming event. Blacksmiths from Maryland to Maine will gather at a regional conference with three excellent demonstrators.
